Guest Talk Development of dependable autonomous robots

Date

Monday, 19 November 2018

Time

Abstract

The development of dependable autonomous robots that are able to perform their service and do not show undesirable behavior despite facing internal and external difficulties is of particular interest when robots share their space with humans. In the talk I like to emphasize a holistic development process for autonomous robots that is model-driven, focuses on dependability, and covers in particular two dimensions: (1) the system level from hardware up to cognition of individuals as well as teams and (2) the entire life cycle of the robot from design over implementation to operation. Each combination of the two dimensions posts individual challenges regarding dependability and asks for different models and methods. I will discuss this issue by presenting and discussing 3 example approaches for different combinations coming from the model-based diagnosis and testing domains in more detail.
