Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences (H-BRS) is intensifying its cooperation with the Institute of Finance Management (IFM) in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. As part of the Bachelor's degree programme in Sustainable Social Policy at the Sankt Augustin site, Mr Arthur Ngasani has been invited as a guest lecturer for the Poverty and Inequality module, which is taught in English in the third semester.

Mr Ngasani teaches and researches social protection and risk management at the IFM and has supported teaching as a guest lecturer at H-BRS for the second time since 2019. Together with Prof Dr Kerstin Rosenow-Williams, Professor of Social Sustainability at H-BRS, he taught the students primarily about the measurement, challenges and combating of poverty, while Prof Dr Rosenow-Williams introduced the students to the measurement, challenges and combating of inequalities of various kinds. The course content is practice-orientated, international and intersectional to provide students with a comprehensive insight into social challenges on a global level. In collaboration, they also design the module's examination, which must be taken as a take-home exam at the end of the semester.

Part of the collaboration is to create an opportunity to promote exchange between IFM students in Tanzania and H-BRS students in Germany. This exchange is intended to offer students the opportunity to further deepen their intercultural perspectives on social challenges.

The cooperation between the two universities in this area, Mr Ngasani's visit as a guest lecturer, the planned H-BRS delegation trip to IFM in March and the planned student exchange are all part of the "Take off for Internationalisation" (TOFI) project. This project aims to promote exchanges between H-BRS and other universities abroad, is funded by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and has already been able to realise other successful collaborations in the past.
