Smart Factory

Smart Factory Förderband
The "Smart Factory" laboratory is the state-of-the-art Industry 4.0 model factory of the TREE Institute and provides an impressive live demonstration of the entire production process, starting from a customer order in the webshop to individual production and delivery.

Another highlight in our laboratory is the online monitoring of plant data with visualization in the cloud. This allows tracking the entire production process in real-time and accessing data globally. Additionally, we integrate the concept of "smart products" or intelligent products. These products acquire their own identity during production, retaining it throughout their lifespan. This enables them to be individually configured and offers numerous advantages both in manufacturing and in use.

„In today's interconnected and intelligently controlled production world, our "Smart Factory" laboratory is a pioneering space where you can experience the future of manufacturing up close. From digital ordering to the intelligent production process – we bring Industry 4.0 to life and provide insights into the possibilities and challenges of this exciting technology.”

A web-based ordering system is the starting point of this fascinating process. It captures customer preferences, generates orders in our ERP system, and controls production through the Manufacturing Execution System (MES) as well as the OPC connection of networked PLC controllers. With RFID identification of assets, we achieve fully automatic production control.

The laboratory also features a collaborative robot processing station and a mobile robot operating on an Automated Guided Vehicle (AGV) system. These demonstrate how robots and automated systems are seamlessly integrated into the production process.

Research and cooperation

In many corporate strategies, collaboration with research institutions has long been established as a crucial element of Open Innovation. For specific research ideas or assistance with entrepreneurial challenges, the university is available as a scientific partner, offering its expertise.
