The Study-Buddy-Programme

Starting studies in a foreign country might bring you some problems and difficulties during the time after your arrival. To give you an orientation aid and to ease your integration, Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University has launched the “Study-Buddy-Programme”.

Study buddies are usually German students at our university who serve as a helping hand for exchange students. They are familiar with the university’s structure and the cities of Bonn and Rheinbach.

BRSU provides you with a Meet and Greet Service during the first days starting at Bonn Central Station. Study Buddies will be there to welcome you and help you to get to the dormitory.

In the following days they provide help in formal matters, e.g. in visiting the authorities. But they also give you help in orientation at university and the environment and support you in your everyday life.

The Study Buddies are able to answer questions about studies, leisure time and everyday life and will thereby help you to get along in Bonn and Rheinbach.

The programme provides you with help regarding any initial difficulties and gives you the chance to get in contact with German students more easily.

Of course , this service is free of charge for you.

"Being a study buddy is a great experience for me. As I am sociable and open minded about different cultures it is a great opportunity for me to establish new relationships with interesting people from different countries. I also like to help new students settling in and to give them an orientation aid as I know that arriving in a foreign country without friends can cause several difficulties for newcomers."
