The anniversary celebrations will include, among other things, a day of festivities for students, staff and alumni that will be held at Sankt Augustin Campus on Friday 19 June 2015. In addition to this, H-BRS will also invite key figures from politics, academia and society to take part in a ceremony on the same day to celebrate our university's achievements. The ceremony is scheduled to take place in the 'Audimax' lecture hall at 11:00.
Who dares wins
Having started as a one-off experiment in the educational history of the Federal Republic of Germany, the Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences (H-BRS) was initially supported by the federal government. In 2004 the State of North Rhine-Westphalia took over its funding.
Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University, which now has around 7,500 students, three campuses and several research institutes, has grown considerably over the past few years (in 1995 it was projected that it would accommodate no more than 2,300 students). The university has thus exceeded the requirements set for its foundation by establishing itself as an 'engine for further development in the Bonn academic region'.
Since the university's foundation, H-BRS has become an important driving force in the areas of education, research and transfer of expertise into business practice. Twenty years is certainly not a long period of history for a university. However, the development of Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University bears impressive testimony to the development of academic expertise in the region.
The university's national and international network, which has continually grown, and the business-oriented education provided to the students also contribute to H-BRS' outstanding reputation.
During its anniversary year, our university is engaged in various activities to draw attention to its achievements:
1. The day of celebrations "20 Years of Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University"
Friday 19 June 2015:
Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University will hold a day of festivities at Sankt Augustin Campus to celebrate its anniversary. All students, staff members, alumni and guests are invited to join in.
Saturday 20 June:
Alumni brunch, 11:00 to 15:00, main building
2. H-BRS Express
Thanks to support from Stadtwerke Bonn, our university has had a tram painted in a new livery. The H-BRS-branded vehicle is running on Route 66 throughout the entire year.
3. History and short film
To mark its anniversary, the university is producing a print version of its history and a short film in order to cast its exciting and varied history in the best light possible. The short film will receive its premiere during the ceremony on 19 June 2015.
4. Large-scale outdoor advertising
During the anniversary year, the university is advertising itself by publishing posters at main transport interchanges in Bonn and in the Rhein-Sieg District.
