Lending and Terms of Use

 Purpose of the OBRS

The One Button Recording Studio (OBRS) is a fully automated film studio that allows members of the Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences and library customers from the district to produce their own short videos without any prior technical knowledge.
Currently, H-BRS operates two OBRS studios, located on the Sankt Augustin and Rheinbach campuses.

1. Eligibility for Use

(1) The OBRS may only be used by the following groups:

• Members of the Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences with a valid library card
• Customers of the University and District Library with a valid library card

(2) A prerequisite for use is obtaining the “OBRS License.”

• University members complete an online learning module with a final test via the LEA learning platform (link).

• Library customers watch the learning module and sign a user agreement available at the library.

   

2. Booking, Access, and Equipment

(1) Booking is only possible in advance via the library’s reservation system: https://rrs.bib.h-brs.de

(2) Access to the studio is managed locally via an iPad. Users log in with their credentials. The iPad controls the studio’s technology. The studio lights switch on automatically upon login and off upon logout.

(3) In addition to the iPad, a laptop (Surface) is available for use in personal presentations.

(4) Operation of any additional studio equipment is not permitted. In particular, light switches in the room must not be used.

4. Rules of Use

(1) It is prohibited to create videos containing offensive, discriminatory, illegal, violent, pornographic, or extremist content.

(2) Commercial use of the studio is not permitted.

(3) Copyright, privacy, and other third-party rights must be respected.

(4) Users must handle the studio and its equipment with particular care.

(5) Eating and drinking in the OBRS are not allowed.

(6) Instructions given by qualified staff must be followed.

5. Liability

(1) Users are liable for any damages resulting from intentional or negligent behavior, particularly violations of these terms of use.

(2) Any damage must be reported immediately to the VideoLAB team.

(3) The university is not liable for damage to personal hardware or software, or for data loss occurring during use, unless caused by intentional or grossly negligent conduct by the university or its agents.

6. Exclusion

Anyone who repeatedly or deliberately violates these terms of use may be excluded from using the OBRS.
