Lending and Terms of Use of the Media Lab

 Purpose of the Media Lab

The Media Lab is a studio where members of Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences and registered users of the District and University Library can create their own media projects. It is located on the Sankt Augustin campus in Room A147.

1. Eligibility for Use

The Media Lab may only be used by the following groups:

a) Members of Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences with a valid library card
b) Registered users of the District and University Library with a valid library card.

2. Booking, Access, and Equipment/Technology

(1) Bookings can only be made in advance by sending an email to the videoLAB (videolab@h-brs.de).

(2) Access to the Media Lab is granted via a transponder, which can be borrowed at the library service desk at the agreed time using a library card.

(3) The Media Lab provides the following equipment/technology:

a) High-quality coloured paper backgrounds for photos or videos
b) An audio recording station (Rodecaster) for podcasts, voiceovers, etc.
c) An iMac with Adobe Creative Cloud applications such as Photoshop, Premiere Pro, After Effects, and Illustrator

4. Rules of Use

(1) It is prohibited to create content that is offensive, discriminatory, illegal, promotes violence, pornographic or unconstitutional.

(2) Commercial use of the Media Lab is not permitted.

(3) Copyright, privacy, and other third-party rights must be respected.

(4) Users must handle the Media Lab and all equipment with due care.

(5) The Media Lab must be returned clean and in its original condition.

(6) Eating and drinking are not permitted in the Media Lab.

(7) Instructions given by qualified staff must be followed.

5. Liability

(1) Users are liable for any damages resulting from intentional or negligent behavior, particularly violations of these terms of use.

(2) Any damage must be reported immediately to the Media Production Team..

(3) The university is not liable for damage to personal hardware or software, or for data loss occurring during use, unless caused by intentional or grossly negligent conduct by the university or its agents.

6. Exclusion

Anyone who repeatedly or deliberately violates these terms of use may be excluded from using the Media Lab.
