“Shortest Writing Day of the Year” - once again a success
Students from various departments used the afternoon and evening to learn about a wide range of topics related to academic work in workshops and to receive individual advice.
Seven workshops provided information on the topic of “Academic Work and Writing” in German and English. Among other things, there were introductions to literature management with Zotero and practical formatting in Word for theses. Motivation for academic work was provided by workshops on the topics of “writer's block” and “procrastination.” In addition, one workshop demonstrated the potential of AI in academic work using various AI tools. One workshop was also offered in a hybrid format as part of the “BibLounge” event series.
Between workshops, participants were able to enjoy snacks and drinks and engage in cross-disciplinary discussions in a relaxed atmosphere. A few students immediately formed their own writing groups, which now plan to meet in the library to work together.
A book exhibition on the topic of “academic writing” invited visitors to browse.
The staff of the Writing Center and the library were available for consultations throughout the evening and were able to provide advice and assistance with more extensive individual questions.
Of course, the library and the Writing Center also offer consultations beyond the Writing Day.
Feel free to take advantage of the consultation services—we look forward to seeing you on site and online!
