Student members in the departmental councils, in the senate and in the equal opportunities committee and the representatives of the interests of student assistants will be elected.

The counting of votes and the determination of the election results will take place publicly on Thursday, 26 May 2022 starting at 15:15 in room E221 in Sankt Augustin.

Who votes?

Eligible to vote are:

  • Students of the university for the election of their members for the respective departments councils
  • Students of the university for the election of their members for the Senate
  • Students of the university for the election of the election of the representative of the interests of student assistants
  • female students members of the University for the election of their female member of the Equal Opportunities Committee
  • male students of the university for the election of their male member of the Equal Opportunities Committee

Only those can exert their right to vote who on election day are included in the voter register. One copy each of the register will be displayed in public from 24 February 2022 in the Sankt Augustin and Rheinbach libraries and at the reception in Hennef. Objections concerning the accuracy of the register may be submitted within two weeks after it has been put on display- in other words, up to 10 March 2022 - giving the reasons in writing, or by means of an explanation to the electoral board which is recorded in writing. For each election, the right to vote may only be exerted once and in person.

  • The representative of the interests of student assistants
When will the elections take place?

In accordance with the decision of the Presidium, the university elections will be held on Tuesday, 24 May and Wednesday, 25 May 2022 as a postal vote only.

Postal vote

In its meeting on 17 March 2022, the election committee decided, in accordance with section 17, paragraph 1 of the election regulations of the Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg, that the university elections of all student members of the departmental councils, the student members of the Senate and the Equal Opportunities Commission, as well as the representation of the interests of student assistants, scheduled for 24 and 25 May 2022, will take place as a pure postal vote.

Eligible voters (all students) can apply for a postal vote at the following link:

Alternatively, it is also possible to apply for a postal vote in writing or by e-mail (justiziariat@h-brs.de (link sends e-mail)), stating an address to which the voting documents should be sent. Ballot papers can be applied for from 21 April 2022. The last date for applying for a ballot paper is 5 May 2022. The postal voting documents will be sent to you after you have submitted your application.

The absentee ballot papers must be received by the election officer by 25 May 2022.

What tasks do the committees and functionaries fulfil?

The Department Council

makes decisions regarding departmental matters, unless the fall within the area of responsibility of the dean. In particular, these include the department regulations and the other regulations required for the department (e.g. examination regulations). The department council also elects the dean and the vice-dean or the deanery.

The Senate

is primarily responsible for general, abstract regulations (e.g. university regulations), recommendations and statements that to the university as a whole or to key facilities of the university.

The Equal Opportunities Committee

advises and supports the university and the equal opportunities officer. It monitors
the creation and maintenance of women’s support plans and elects the equal opportunities officer.

The Representative of the Interest of Student Assistants

monitors the observance of the applicable legislation during the selection and employment of student assistants and acts to promote appropriate working conditions for them.
He/she responds to complaints by those affected.
