This course teaches doctoral students normative and ethical standards for scientific research and provides an introduction to the philosophical foundations of research-related ethical discourse.
Participants learn about the work of ethics committees (KEF) and examine the challenges of security-related research on the basis of guidelines (Leopoldina, DFG). They learn to apply the underlying rules and standards for scientific research to questions of ethical responsibility for researchers.
Doctoral students are made aware of the possible ethical consequences of their own scientific activities. They are encouraged to reflect on their use of research methods and results and to consider the responsibility they bear as researchers towards society.
