The expansion of wind turbines is indispensable for the energy turnaround. One challenge is the development of new blade geometries to reduce trailing edge noise. For his doctoral thesis, Philipp Spelten is researching numerical optimization methods for developing quieter geometries using the Lattice-Boltzmann methods.
