The 2025 STEM Year for Female Students kicked off successfully at Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences (H-BRS). A total of 49 female students from the region—from grades 8 to 10 and from all types of schools—took part in the kick-off event on campus.

The Girls' STEM Year is a joint project between H-BRS and the Rhein-Sieg district. The aim is to get girls excited about mathematics, computer science, natural sciences, and technology (STEM), to provide them with long-term support, and to give them practical insights into the diversity of STEM professions.

At the kick-off event, the focus was on getting to know each other and, above all, on the university and its exciting facilities. The students were given exclusive insights into the TV studio, the library, the vibration measurement laboratory, the machine hall, the smart factory, and the robotics laboratory. This allowed them not only to experience the campus, but also to gain initial exposure to possible study and career paths.

Over the course of the year, participants can look forward to a variety of workshops, excursions, and projects. This will allow them to test their talents, break down prejudices against technical professions, and develop their skills in an inspiring environment.
