Alumnus R. Gieler as guest with the topic IT security

Vortrag von Alumnus Roland Gieler zum Thema IT-Security

Friday 13 January 2023

Alumnus Roland Gieler was a guest in the IT Service Management lecture at the Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg, University of Applied Sciences and was able to give the students insights into the workings of a globally active company with a lecture on the topic of IT security.

Gieler, who wrote his Bachelor's thesis on the topic of configuration management in the Department of Computer Science ten years ago and was supervised by Prof. Dr Andreas Hense, now works as Head of IT Infrastructure at DEUTZ AG, a leading global manufacturer of drive systems. His responsibilities include the secure implementation and operation of all technological infrastructures.
In his lecture, he showed current examples of the threat posed by cyber attacks and motivated the students to actively participate.
By working together with companies, students gain insights into practice and can already familiarise themselves deeply with topics during their studies in order to start their professional careers as specialists.
It is especially nice when alumni keep in touch with the university and support young students as they enter the professional world. A big thank you goes to Roland Gieler at this point.
