To the Webex meeting
With the lecture series "Blaue Reihe - Software Engineering", the Department of Computer Science has initiated a series of short impulse lectures by experts from industry and science on selected topics in the field of software engineering.

Speakers are invited to report on modern trends, technologies, frameworks, methods and tools from the state of the art of software engineering. Experience reports on software projects from industry can also be presented here. The Blaue Reihe also invites young scientists to give talks on current research work (e.g. resulting from Master's or doctoral theses). The target group are students from all computer science degree programmes as well as employees of the department with a subject-related or general interest in issues relating to software engineering.

We welcome Dr Uwe Wilhelm, team leader of security experts at Deutsche Telekom, as our guest on this topic:

Secure Architecture for Telecommunications

"In this presentation we will briefly investigate why telecommunications is an interesting and also a quite special topic in the arena of large distributed systems. We will explore how the services offered by Deutsche Telekom are protected from external attackers and peek into some noteworthy security concepts. Finally, we will have a look at the current evolution of technology and assess how this can be applied in telecommunication systems and what challenges we see therein."

Dr. Uwe Wilhelm studied computer science at the Technical University of Kaiserslautern and graduated in 1992. He then spent a year studying at Cornell University in the department of Prof Ken Birman. He then worked on his doctorate at the EPF in Lausanne, which he completed in 1999 as Docteur ès sciences. The main topics were security and distributed systems. In 2000, he started working for Deutsche Telekom at T-Systems Nova in Darmstadt and then progressed via T-Mobile, T-Systems and many other stages to Telekom Security. During his time as an expert and then as a manager, he was responsible for the security of end devices, applications and services. He currently leads a team of 16 security experts who, together with other teams, protect Deutsche Telekom from cyber attacks.

The lecture of the Blaue Reihe will take place on Tuesday, 9 January 2023 from 5 pm in room C 115 on the Sankt Augustin campus.

We look forward to an interesting lecture, come along!
