Jens Maiero is a PhD student at the department of computer science. He and his team from the Institute of Visual Computing will be presented with a best paper award at one of most notable multimedia conferences, the IEEE International Conference on Multimedia and Expo 2017 in Hong Kong.

ForceTab: Visuo-haptic Interaction with a Force-Sensitive Actuated Tablet

Authors: Jens Maiero, Dr. Ernst Kruijff, Prof. Dr. André Hinkenjann (all H-BRS), Gheorghita Ghinea (Brunel University)

The award-winning paper deals with the development of a force-sensitive tablet (ForceTab) which is mounted on top of a motion-platform. The multi-modal system combines visual properties with haptic cues. The research explores two different application scenarios of the set up and highlights its potential as well as limitations.

Jens Maiero will present the findings in July in Hong Kong. His research is part of his PhD studies which is supported by a grant of the department of computer science. The award will be mentioned in the spring editions of 4 scientific journals.

The department of computer science and the Institute of Visual Computing are proud of this outstanding achievement!
