At the international Hack-a-Sat 4 (HAS4), Team Krautsat, which also includes hackers from the RedRocket team founded in the H-BRS, won the ticket for a place in space. With a sensational 1st place, they qualified in the competition hosted by the US Air Force and won $10,000.

The HACK-A-SAT is a Capture The Flag (CTF) competition that incentivises the world's best cybersecurity talent to develop necessary skills to mitigate vulnerabilities and build secure space systems. Through physical FLATSAT hardware and digital simulations, Hack-a-Sat 1,2 and 3 participants were able to build their skills for hacking in space. This year's Hack-a-Sat 4 presents the world's first CTF competition with a real satellite in space. By winning the preliminary competition in early April, Team Krautsat is one of the five finalist teams to compete on the Moonlighter, an orbiting satellite, and attend the final event in August at the Aerospace Village at DEF CON 31 in Las Vegas.

Team RedRocket, founded at the H-BRS, consists of motivated students and alumni who like to test and develop their skills in CTF competitions. For this year's qualification round, the up-and-coming hackers from the RedRocket family's own ranks already started. In the HAS4 qualification round, which took place at the beginning of April, they competed together with the teams ENOFLAG, KITCTF, saarsec, FluxFingers as well as hackers without a team under the name Krautsat. With 3627 points ahead of Team mhackeroni with 3024 and SpaceBitsRUs with 2865 points, Krautsat hacked their way to first place out of the 381 participating groups.

In the autumn, from 11-13.08.2023, they will be allowed to let off steam and compete with hackers from all over the world in the world's first "hacking sandbox" , the Moonlighter satellite, specially designed to promote the cybersecurity community and secure space for us all.

A great international success from a team at the top of the world!

We wish the team continued success!
