Strengthening Ties in Research, Education and Academic Mobility (STREAM)

As part of the DAAD-funded project ‘Strengthening Ties in Research, Education and Academic Mobility’ (STREAM), Bonn-Rhine-Sieg University of Applied Sciences (H-BRS) is systematically expanding its cooperation with the University of New Brunswick (UNB) in Canada. The aim of the project is to deepen the existing partnership, promote academic mobility and intensify joint activities in teaching, research and administration. In the long term, UNB is to be established as a strategic partner of H-BRS in order to strengthen the international orientation of both universities sustainably.

Aims of the project

Increasing student mobility from UNB to H-BRS:
Due to different semester times, student mobilities from Canada to Germany face structural challenges. Through targeted short-term measures with innovative hybrid and virtual formats as well as the promotion of attendance stays of UNB students at H-BRS, the project aims to contribute to a more balanced student mobility.
Networking of members from teaching, research, knowledge transfer and administration:
Through the targeted networking of members of UNB and H-BRS from teaching, research, knowledge transfer and administration, the project creates the basis for sustainable and broad-based cooperation. It promotes the development of joint innovative co-operation formats and contributes to a future-oriented partnership.
Establishment of a strategic partnership: The project lays the foundation for a strategic partnership between UNB and H-BRS by gradually expanding and deepening cooperation in teaching, research, knowledge transfer and administration.

Project Events

Matchmaking - 24 June 2025

The planned matchmaking event will bring together interested members of UNB and H-BRS from the fields of teaching, research, knowledge transfer and administration. The focus will be on topic-based exchange in order to provide mutual insights into fields of work and research areas to identify synergies and potential areas of cooperation. The aim is to lay the foundations for in-depth collaboration and sustainable partnerships between the two universities.

Delegation Trip to UNB - 29. September -03. October 2025 (postponed)

A 10-member delegation from H-BRS is travelling to UNB to deepen the contacts made during the matchmaking event and to further develop concrete ideas for cooperation. At the same time, the visit offers an opportunity to get to know the partner university in Canada even better, to gain insights into its structures and working methods, and to lay the foundation for long-term and trusting cooperation.

Delegation Visit to H-BRS - 10.-14. November 2025

A delegation from UNB is travelling to H-BRS to deepen the contacts made during the matchmaking event and to further develop concrete ideas for cooperation. At the same time, the visit offers the opportunity to get to know the partner university in Germany even better, gain insights into its structures and working methods and lay the foundations for a long-term and trusting collaboration.
Given the limited number of places in the delegation, you will receive information on the requirements and the selection procedure at the matchmaking event.
