Visit from Istanbul brings new perspectives to international collaboration between IWK and Natural Sciences Department

Arslan, whose research focuses on robotics, intelligent systems, biomechanics, and biomedical engineering, exchanged ideas with representatives from the IWK Department, the International Office, and other institutes at the university.

In addition to discussions about joint opportunities, he gained insight into the department’s diverse research and teaching activities. The itinerary included visits to various laboratories, such as the Smart Factory and the Industrial Robotics Lab, the TV studio, the PEPS Lab, as well as facilities in the library and the e-learning center. He was accompanied on the visit by the director of the H-BRS International Office, Dr. Rahel Hutgens, who has proven expertise on Turkey. Following discussions with representatives of the Department of Applied Natural Sciences, the visit concluded with an exchange with the Vice President for Internationalization and Digitalization, Prof. Dr. Teena Hassan.

During the visit, various approaches to future collaboration were discussed. These include, among other things, study abroad programs for students and faculty, joint research projects in the fields of robotics and intelligent systems, and the development of joint teaching formats. The use of digital teaching and laboratory resources—such as remote labs—also offers potential for deeper cooperation between the two universities.

The visit underscores the shared interest of Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg and the Turkish-German University in further expanding their international collaboration and leveraging synergies in research, teaching, and knowledge transfer.
