Department of Engineering and Communication

Study co-operatively

Tag des offenen Projekts TdoP Juli 2025
The cooperative study programme is an initiative of Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg and the Bonn/Rhein-Sieg Chamber of Industry and Commerce. Vocational training and a degree programme are completed in a cooperative manner.

The four-and-a-half-year training programme is a combination of vocational training and a degree course - and is often referred to as the "ideal way" of training. This is because it combines theory and practice much more intensively than a traditional degree programme can guarantee. The close link with the company in which the in-company training takes place promises excellent career opportunities in that company. The training contract guarantees an income from day one and therefore financial independence.

Training and studies

The duration of the cooperative study programme is nine semesters, of which two semesters (1st and 2nd semesters) are for the first part of the practical vocational training and seven semesters (3rd to 9th semesters) as study semesters. The seven programme semesters (3rd to 9th semesters) correspond to semesters 1 to 7 in the Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Sustainable Engineering bachelor's degree programmes. The practical semester in semester 7 and the Bachelor's thesis in semester 9 take place in the respective industrial and commercial companies.
Cooperating companies

Numerous companies from the region have been supporting the cooperative study model of the Department of Engineering and Communication (IWK) at Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg for many years.
Together with our partners, we offer students the opportunity to optimally combine academic training and practical work experience.

In recent years, the following companies have been involved as cooperation partners:

  • August Rüggeberg GmbH & Co. KG
  • Basell Polyolefine
  • BHC Gummi-Metall GmbH
  • Bonn-Netz GmbH
  • BPW Bergische Achsen KG
  • Eaton
  • Ford Aus- und Weiterbildung e.V.
  • GKN Driveline International GmbH
  • GKN Sinter Metals Components GmbH
  • Hennecke GmbH
  • Ineos Manufacturing DEU GmbH
  • INEOS Manufacturing Deutschland GmbH
  • Kautex Mechanical Engineering GmbH
  • Kumera Getriebe GmbH
  • LEMO Mechanical Engineering GmbH
  • Maxion Wheels Werke GmbH
  • Reifenhäuser GmbH & Co. KG Maschinenfabrik
  • Rud. Otto Meyer Technik GmbH & Co. KG
  • Rudolf Fuka GmbH
  • VOSS Automotive GmbH
  • Walterscheid GmbH
  • Wasserbeschaffungsverband Thomasberg
  • ZERA GmbH

The participation in the cooperative degree programme Electrical Engineering (BEng), Mechanical Engineering (BEng) or Sustainable Engineering (BEng) is open to all companies. Prospective students apply directly to the companies. The respective companies then ask the university about the cooperation.
