Big rush at the Company Day of Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg

University President Hartmut Ihne was very pleased that after a two-year break from Corona, the Company Day could finally take place again face-to-face. "The format is a great success: many of our students lay the foundation for their professional careers there and the companies establish contacts with excellently trained young people. In this way, the Company Day also shows the university's ties with the regional economy," he said.

Significance for the regional economy

After a tour, Regina Rosenstock, Head of the economic development division at the Rhine-Sieg District, also emphasised the importance of the Company Day for the regional economy. "According to the university, the majority of the companies come from the region, which makes us very happy as economic promoters. After all, this also means that the chances are good that the graduates will stay in the region after they have completed their degree," she said, referring to the shortage of skilled workers. "The format brings business and science together and we are very pleased about that."

500 jobs on offer

At the 21st edition of the fair, the companies had a total of around 500 jobs on offer, including internships, practice semesters and final theses, entry opportunities as working students and trainees or direct entry. The target group are students, career starters and young professionals. In past years, many students have found an employer at the fair - this year, some stood on the other side at the fair stands and recruited young talents for their company at their old university.

Valuable networking and recruiting platform

Professor Michaela Wirtz, Vice President Transfer, Innovation and Sustainability at H-BRS, also emphasised the importance of the Company Day for networking: "The Company Day is a valuable exchange, networking and recruiting platform for students and graduates of all disciplines and the participating companies from different industries. It is great that the company day could take place on site again this year, because a video conference cannot replace a face-to-face conversation when starting a career."
