Finale des Weltraum-Hackathons: Platz fünf für Krautsat
Beim Finale des Hack-a-Sat-Wettbewerbs am 11. und 12. August in Las Vegas ging es für fünf internationale Teams darum, die Kontrolle über einen um die Erde kreisenden Satelliten zu übernehmen. Mit dabei: das Team Krautsat, zu dem auch Hacker aus dem Team RedRocket der H-BRS gehören.

Open source machine learning in computational chemistry
The two researchers from the Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg, University of Applied Sciences, Dr Alexander Hagg and Dr Karl N. Kirschner, tackled the question of how open source, machine learning and computational chemistry intersect in the study of scientific topics.

Review of FrOSCon 2023
The 18th FrOSCon took place on the campus of the Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg (H-BRS), University of Applied Sciences, on 5 and 6 August 2023 and was a great success despite the partly very wet weather. After last year, due to the Corona pandemic, only about 750 participants could be counted, this year about 1,300 visitors took part in the conference.

Preserving cultural heritage digitally - the DAAD Ta'ziz projects
At the kick-off meeting for the DAAD Ta'ziz projects at the TH Brandenburg, the Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg (H-BRS), University of Applied Sciences, was represented by Prof. Dr. Rainer Herpers (Department of Computer Science), Sophie Reckers and Simon Biwer, both from the Business Information Systems degree programme in the Department of Computer Science.

Ouch! - Pain simulation in games
In her Master's thesis at the H-BRS in the Master Visual Computing & Games Technology (MVG) programme, Janelle Pfeifer (M.Sc.) deals with the topic of "Pain simulation in games". Is it possible to make the gamer feel the pain of his or her own virtual avatar through externally added optical, acoustic and tactile stimuli without causing him or her real pain?

Best Paper Award for Professor Irene Rothe and Andrè Kless at the International IEEE EDUCOM 2023
May 1 - May 4, 2023 American University of Kuwait Salmiya, Kuwait - At this year's IEEE EDUCON 2023, Prof. Dr Irene Rothe from the Department of Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Technical Journalism (H-BRS) and André Kless, Research Associate in the Department of Computer Science (H-BRS), together secured the Best Paper Award in the category "Infrastructure and Technologies for Engineering Education".
