Mechanical Engineering “Cum Laude“

Tuesday 26 August 2014

Once again, our students have given good ratings to a degree programme offered by our University.

It was not until 20 September 2011 that our University published a report on our excellent performance in a press release entitled “Students Love Their University” (“Studenten lieben ihre Hochschule”), which appeared in the Study Quality Monitor (SQM) and in the survey conducted by the StudiVZ online portal. Only one day later, this was followed by another achievement: the German Stifterverband nominated our University’s degree programme in Mechanical Engineering for the finale in the “Cum Laude” contest - together with eight other degree courses.

Students and departments were given the opportunity to suggest their study programmes for participation in the campaign “Which are the best degree programmes in Germany?” In total, 92 proposals were submitted. The major criteria for the contest included: the structural organisation of the programme, the topicality of the tution contents, their practical relevance, interdisciplinarity and internationality - to mention but a few.

The Department of Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Technical Journalism will have to demonstrate the special advantages of its degree course to the jury and to the public in Berlin on 28 November. The three departments that come first, second and third will be awarded € 3,000, € 2,000 and € 1,000.
