Study content

In the first two semesters, students learn the basics of engineering and natural sciences such as mathematics, computer science, materials and physics. In addition, topics such as renewable energies, chemistry and environmental science as well as ethics and sustainability provide the basis for further studies.

In the third and fourth semesters, the focus is on modules such as sustainability and life cycle analysis, building technology, smart grids and energy storage. The modules in measurement and control technology, automation, modeling and simulation as well as thermodynamics provide the engineering background. Students have the opportunity to choose topics of particular interest to them in electives and two practical projects.

Students then apply the knowledge they have learned in practice in the fifth semester. During a 20-week practical semester, they get to know the day-to-day work of a company. Alternatively, students can also spend a semester abroad. In the sixth semester, students acquire in-depth knowledge in career-related technical subjects as well as the basics of business administration. In addition, further technical electives and the interdisciplinary module Studium Generale round off the course. The Bachelor's thesis in the seventh semester ensures optimal preparation for the job market. The course concludes with a colloquium.
