In springtime the days are finally getting longer again and it is therefore we're turning it into the longest writing day of the year! The Library and the Writing Centre offer workshops and advice on academic writing. All students are kindly invited!
  • Welcome.

  • Narrow down my topic and develop a research question: How can you derive a concrete research question from your topic and thus approach a writing project with a focused mindset? (In German, questions welcome in English)

  • How to write for university.  This workshop will address different aspects of academic writing such as structure, paragraphing, paraphrasing & summarising and more! (In English)

  • From the research question to the outline. Here you will learn how to develop an outline for a scientific paper from a specific research question. (In German, questions welcome in English)
    15:30-16:15 

  • Literature management with Zotero Basic: Information on downloading and getting started with Zotero. The most important functions for effective work with the reference management programme will be demonstrated. (In German, questions welcome in English)

  • Procrastination.

         16:45-17:30

  • Ten tips for academic writing (BibLounge). This workshop will show you how to avoid the classic mistakes and improve your academic writing. (In English)
    17:00 - 17:30

  • SciFlow - easy scientific writing and publishing: SciFlow is an alternative to Microsoft Word with templates for your scientific papers. The online text editor offers simple functions for (collaborative) writing, citing and publishing scientific papers and articles. (In German, questions welcome in English)
    17:45 - 18:30

  • Learning and scientific work with AI: In the digital age, artificial intelligence has become indispensable. AI is also increasingly being used for learning and scientific work. This workshop will show the potential of AI for studying. (In German, questions welcome in English)

There will be short breaks between the workshops - with small snacks for an energy boost!

 

During the event, the staff of the Library and the Writing Centre will also be available to answer your individual questions and provide support.
