Wednesday 24 September 2025

How can research results be transferred to agricultural practice more quickly and effectively? This question was the focus of an international event on the Poppelsdorf campus of the University of Bonn, which was attended by representatives of the specialist press from all over Europe.
EU Farm Book Fachveranstaltung Agrarjournalismus

The event was organised by the University of Bonn together with the European Network of Agricultural Journalists (ENAJ) and the EU-Farm-Book project. The event was part of a Europe-wide press initiative aimed at promoting dialogue between science, practice and the media.

The Department of Engineering and Communication (IWK) at Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences was also represented: With the projects Garrulus and EU-Farm-Book, the department's institute TREE (Technology, Resource & Energy Efficiency) presented its current research work. Both projects aim to develop innovative solutions for greater sustainability, knowledge transfer and efficiency in agriculture.

In an elevator pitch format, the participating projects were given the opportunity to present their approaches and results to an international audience from research, practice and the media. The diversity of the ideas presented reflected the breadth of current innovation processes in the agricultural industry.

In addition, the event offered numerous opportunities for networking and direct dialogue with specialist journalists from various European countries. A particular highlight was the panel discussion, in which selected participants discussed key challenges such as digitalisation, resource conservation and knowledge transfer in agriculture.

By participating, the TREE Institute was able to further expand the visibility of its projects and the research strength of the IWK department and demonstrate how practical innovations can contribute to more sustainable agriculture.
