Swapping instead of throwing away
Every household has items that you no longer need but are too good to throw away. In the Rheinbach and Sankt Augustin libraries, these can be swapped in October.
What can you expect to find on the swap shelf
- Kitchen utensils in good condition
- Small household items
- Tools
- Games
- Decorative items
And the best thing is: you can also take items without swapping!
Please drop off your treasures during opening hours with specialised staff.
Electrical appliances, food and clothing are excluded for safety and hygiene reasons.

The "New life for used items" exchange campaign is accompanied by the Special exhibition on sustainability - here with a focus on waste avoidance. The new media shelves were purchased with the kind support of Deutsche Telekom.
The library and the Centre for Ethics and Responsibility would like to draw attention to topics relating to the 17 sustainability goals of the United Nations with various events and (participatory) campaigns in the "Year of Sustainability". The "Second hand to go - new life for second-hand items" swap campaign is one of the events organised as part of the Year of Action.
