Presentation of the University Development Plan HEP4
President Marion Halfmann began the 80-minute information event with an introduction to HEP4, which not only relates to the central fields of education, research and transfer. It also makes statements on subject areas in which the university has great potential that should be further developed in the future. These are digitalisation and artificial intelligence, social responsibility and sustainability, innovation and entrepreneurship as well as internationalisation. HEP4 also includes those areas in which the university must be well positioned internally in order to be successful. These are processes and structures, diversity and equality, university culture and student attractiveness.
Entire university involved with suggestions
The suggestions have come from the entire university over the past few months - from employees, students and alumni alike. As a result, 54 university-wide goals, 75 sub-goals and 107 specific measures were formulated during the ten-month HEP process. In addition, there are numerous plans for the individual university divisions up to 2030.
"This is a very comprehensive plan for the next five years," said University President Marion Halfmann. Chancellor Angela Fischer emphasised that all the measures can be financed in principle. There was great interest in the planning status - more than 100 university members attended the presentation in person and more than 120 others joined in online.
Feedback wanted
For three days up to and including Thursday, 27 November, all interested parties can find out more about the plans at a poster exhibition on Hochschulstraße in Sankt Augustin and talk to those responsible. During this time, all students, academic staff, professors and employees in technology and administration can give their feedback on the design, including using sticky dots. Further feedback is also welcome after the exhibition - either in person or via email hochschulentwicklungsplan@h-brs.de. The comments will be evaluated and incorporated into the draft version of HEP4.
On 18 December 2025, the draft will be presented at a joint meeting of the University Council and Senate. In December 2025 and January 2026, the HEP4 will then be finalised and approved by the Executive Board. Implementation will then begin.
