Guest lecture at the H-BRS: Social media and cyber security using the example of the BSI

Tobias Jobke (BSI)

Date

Tuesday, 02 June 2026

Time

10:00 - 11:30

Location

Campus Sankt Augustin, Room B133

How does a federal agency communicate about cyber security? What role does social media play when it comes to sensitising people to information security? And how can complex technical topics be communicated in an understandable, precise and appealing way?

These questions are the focus of a guest lecture by Tobias Jobke from the Federal Office for Information Security (BSI). He works in the Strategic Communication and Press oral presentation; his focus is on Social Media Management. Among other things, he deals with the BSI's social media strategy, the placement of relevant topics and the comprehensible preparation of content for different target groups.

In his presentation, Jobke provides insights into the importance of social media for the communication of a cyber security authority: from raising awareness of information security to cooperation with specialist departments and communication in the event of current cyber security incidents. This is precisely when it is important to provide information quickly while remaining precise and reliable.

The guest lecture will take place on Tuesday, 2 June, at 10 a.m. in room B 133. All students, staff and other interested parties are cordially invited.

The lecture will be held in German.
