The university's central IT systems will not be available on Saturday, 12 September 2026, from 08:00 to 20:00; this applies to all locations. As part of the annual power shutdown at Sankt Augustin Campus, restart tests of the central IT systems will also take place on this day. The power shutdown will be coordinated by the Facility Management, Construction and Security Department and the restart tests by the Institute for IT Service.

During the annual power shutdown at Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences on 12 September 2026, the Institute for IT Services (ITS) plans to carry out a restart test of the central IT systems.

As in the past, ITS will use the power shutdown for IT system expansions, updates and migrations and at the same time to test a crisis situation. The aim is to check the university's backup and recovery strategy in practice and to test whether the systems can be properly restored if the worst comes to the worst.

This restart test is required by the Ministry of Culture and Science of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia (MKW) in the agreement for cyber security at regular intervals, at least annually.
