The Germany Scholarship 2026/2027 launched
In addition to a very good grade point average, social commitment and the students’ personal circumstances are key factors in the awarding of scholarships. In a two-stage selection process lasting half a year, the university’s departments select the students most deserving of support. The number of scholarships awarded is based on the student numbers from the previous semester. Foundations, which often provide support regardless of the field of study, play an important role in the overall funding framework.
The Dr Reinold Hagen Foundation leads by example in this regard. By funding 50 Germany Scholarships, the foundation is, for the second year running, by far the largest premium sponsor of the Germany Scholarship programme at the university. Other premium sponsors include the Ließem Foundation, the university’s own Study Foundation and the WiCAM Foundation, each providing double-digit numbers of scholarships. The Ließem Foundation has been funding up to 20 scholarships since 2011; this is an important constant that has reliably supported the programme over the years, with a focus on educational support for students in need. The WiCAM Foundation has been active as a premium sponsor in the STEM field for five years, awarding ten scholarships, and is also involved as a sponsor of the university’s motorsport team. The Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg Scholarship Foundation is funding 13 scholarships this year in the fields of Management Sciences and social policy and social security. In addition to long-standing partners in the Germany Scholarship Programme, three new organisations have joined. We welcome the Bonn-Sieg District Employers’ Association, Schönhofer Sales & Engineering GmbH and the Soroptimist International Club Bonn-Siebengebirge to our family of sponsors and are delighted with this increase in support.
Both sides are now eagerly awaiting September, when the process of establishing contact between sponsors and scholarship holders will begin. Both sides will then find out who they will meet in person on 2 December 2026 at the ceremonial presentation of the sponsors’ and scholarship recipients’ certificates.
