The “Girls Do It” STEM Year for Girls Kicks Off Its New Cycle with 80 Participants
80 girls, 10 schools, and a year full of STEM
At the kickoff event at Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences, the participants first got to know one another and gained an initial glimpse into the university. During various tours, they were able to explore laboratories and exciting work areas while striking up conversations with one another. This gave the girls an impression right from the start of just how diverse the world of mathematics, computer science, natural sciences, and technology can be.
The kickoff event is just the first step: In the coming months, the participants can look forward to a varied school year with additional activities at and around the university. Through workshops, projects, and joint events, they’ll have the chance to try things out for themselves, experiment, tinker, and get to know different STEM fields.
The “Girls Do It” STEM program for high school girls is jointly organized by the Education Office of the Rhein-Sieg District and Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences. The goal of the project is to spark girls’ interest in STEM at an early age, show them various career and academic paths, and give them the opportunity to discover their own interests and talents.
Following a successful previous cycle featuring hack days, workshops, and diverse insights into the STEM world, the next generation is now getting started. We’re looking forward to an exciting year with 80 dedicated participants and many new ideas, experiments, and STEM experiences!
