Taster course in sustainable chemistry and materials on Wednesday, 8 April 2026
In the second week of the Easter holidays, we cordially invite you to a taster course in ‘Sustainable Chemistry and Materials’ in Rheinbach. Pupils aged 16 and over have the opportunity to get to know our university and the degree programme.
Registration for Wednesday, 8 April 2026 from February 2026 via our online registration form.
This is what our exciting programme has in store::
08.50: Meet on Campus Rheinbach in front of building C at von-Liebig-Str. 20 in Rheinbach (see maps below)
09.00 - 09.30: Welcome, group allocation and presentation on the ‘Sustainable Chemistry and Materials’ degree programme in room G016 (building G is to the right of building C)
09.30 - 10.00: Taster lecture ‘Plastics and sustainability – do they go together?’ (Prof. Mandy Gieler, Raum G016)
10.00 - 10.15: Break
10.30 - 12.00: GROUP A: Project ‘Following ions....Detective work in the chemistry lab’
GROUP B: Project ‘A taster of materials science’
12.15 - 12.45: Lunch break in the cafeteria and opportunity to visit the library
13.00 - 14.30: GROUP A: Project ‘A taster of materials science’
GROUP B: Project ‘Following ions....Detective work in the chemistry lab’
14.30 - 15.30: Q&A session with the student council and presentation of certificates of attendance in the cafeteria

Then register now for the next taster course, which is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, 8 April 2026, using from February 2026 our online registration form. The registration deadline is 1 April 2026.
Participation in the taster programme is free of charge, the number of places is limited. The taster course is taught entirely in German.
