Occupational safety specialists

The occupational safety specialist advises and supports employers and their managers on issues relating to occupational safety, accident prevention and the humane design of workplaces. The occupational safety specialist supports managers in the fulfilment of their tasks and duties in occupational health and safety and in the implementation of necessary protective measures

The tasks include:

• advising managers in the procurement of technical work equipment and the introduction of work processes and working materials,
• advising and supporting managers in internal discussions for the preparation and updating of risk assessments,
• carrying out health and safety inspections and workplace inspections to improve the working environment,
• supporting managers in their training and information events on occupational safety issues
• providing expert opinions on the planning and construction of workplaces.
• the investigation of accidents at work and the derivation of accident prevention measures,
• recording commuting and work accidents and external reporting to the UK-NRW

In addition to the professors and heads of central facilities, the occupational safety specialist also provides technical support to the safety officers in the performance of their tasks.

Of course, the occupational safety specialist is available to all employees and students of the university as a point of contact for questions relating to occupational safety.

The aim is to raise awareness of safe behaviour among all those working at the university, i.e. employees, students and employees of external companies.

In cooperation with the company medical service, occupational medical care for employees is ensured.
