Goodbye: A semester of German comes to an end!

The intensive German B2 and C1 courses, which began in March 2025, ended on 10 July 2025 with a joint graduation ceremony. These courses were coordinated by the International Office (IO) and the Language Centre and funded by the “Bridge to Success” (DAAD) and “NRWege ins Studium” (MKW NRW) programs.

Lohanna Viana and Ahmad Alali (IO) put together an entertaining and atmospheric program. The course participants brought dishes from their home countries and so the table was richly laid with dishes that reflected the cultural diversity of the participants.

The celebrations began with a speech by Stephanie Cramer (Language Centre), who wished the students good orientation for the future, in keeping with the title of the course textbook ‘Kompass’. Nele Eing (International Office) then thanked the students and presented them with their certificates of participation.

In the style of the Oscars, unique characteristics of the students were then honored: Most reliable participation / Best communication with the teaching staff / Greatest helpfulness / Most creative spirit etc. This was followed by an entertaining intercultural quiz, which awakened the competitive spirit and gave students the opportunity to prove their knowledge of the world.

Music played in the background and the students’ faces beamed with confidence. May they pass their exams, which are still to come, and have a good start to a new chapter in their lives!
