Spätstarter mit drei Abschlüssen: Thomas Becker macht mit 55 Jahren den zweiten Master

Der Weg zu seinem dritten Studienabschluss, den er seit ein paar Tagen offiziell in den Händen hält, war steinig. Er begann 2007, als sich Thomas Becker an der H-BRS für den Bachelor-Studiengang der Wirtschaftswissenschaften einschrieb – mit 40 Jahren. Seine geräumige Wohnung kündigte er und mietete stattdessen ein kleines Einzimmerappartement in der Nähe der Hochschule. Die schulischen Erfahrungen lagen weit zurück und auch sonst begegneten ihm Dinge wie Kurvendiskussionen und Ableitungen damals weder im schulischen noch im beruflichen Alltag.

Multi-sensory feedback for 3D User Interfaces

In his talk, Kruijff gave an overview of his recent research on the design, development and validation of multisensory 3D user interfaces.   Among other things, the research aims to overcome the limitations of augmented reality displays with a narrow field of view by introducing audio-tactile cues to guide the user's attention. Kruijff also presented research results in 3D navigation techniques for virtual reality and robotics. The visit took place in the course of existing and future collaboration in the context of dissertation supervision and funded projects.

Dr.-Ing. Michael Rademacher

Dr Michael Rademacher - an expert in network technologies

As a research assistant at the H-BRS, Rademacher conducted research in the areas of Design of secure IoT communication, security and privacy for blockchain applications, radio network planning/simulation in wireless backhaul networks (dissertation) and was project manager SDN4Wireless (networking/security of digital systems).  Parallel to his work at the H-BRS, he heads the research group "Secure Mobile Communication" at Fraunhofer FKIE in Bonn. His research group deals with topics such as the construction and operation of secure smart city networks (LoRa), security vulnerabilities in mobile communication networks (4G, 5G) and secure communication for digital and distributed energy. He also coordinates the joint training activities between the university and Fraunhofer in the cyber security learning laboratory (Fraunhofer Academy). The Department of Computer Science is pleased to have been able to successfully fill the substitute professorship of network security with the scientist Michael Rademacher. We wish him all the best for his new tasks!
