If you would like to change your study programme at the Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences, please submit the completed application for admission to a higher semester of study and the current transcript of recordes with all passed and failed examinations and the required language Certificate to the Registrar's Office.

If you have interrupted your study programme and would like to return to studying in the same programme, you just need to submit the completed application form and your current and complete transcript. You will then be placed in the next higher semester. All examinations, including any failed attempts, remain valid.

If the examination regulations have changed, please enclose the transcript of records as well. In this case, the examination board must decide in which semester you can get placed.

Enrolment can only take place if free capacities are available.

3. Crediting procedure

The crediting procedure is based on § 63 a of the Higher Education Act NRW (HG) in conjunction with the Convention on the Recognition of Qualifications in Higher Education in the European Region (Lisbon Recognition Convention of 11 April 1997).

Examination results achieved in study programmes at other state or state-recognised higher education institutions, at state or state-recognised vocational academies or in study programmes at foreign state or state-recognised higher education institutions are recognised upon application, provided that there is no significant difference in the competences acquired compared to the results which are replaced. The same applies to degree programmes within the meaning of sentence 1. Examination achievements in other study programmes at the Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences are considered as examination achievements at other universities. In the event of re-enrolment in the same degree programme at the Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences and within the framework of a change of examination regulations, all examination achievements acquired so far, including unsuccessful attempts by official channels, will be recognised in the event that students are enrolled in two degree programmes simultaneously, in which identical modules are offered and completed with identical examinations, the examination achievements including unsuccessful attempts in both degree programmes will be assessed simultaneously. No application pursuant to § 63 a HG is required.

The recognition within the meaning of sentences 1 to 3 serves the continuation of studies, the taking of examinations or the commencement of another study programmes.

The examination board, which is responsible for the respective degree programme, carries out the recognition procedure.  In case of doubt, he decides on the crediting after consulting the examiners. It also decides on the placement in a higher semester.

It is the responsibility of the applicant to provide the necessary information on the achievement or degree to be recognised. The onus of proof that an application within the meaning of paragraph 1 does not fulfil the conditions for recognition lies with the Examining Board.

On the basis of recognition and at the request of the student/applicant, the higher education institution must classify a semester whose number is determined by the number of ECTS credits acquired through recognition in relation to the total number of ECTS credits that can be acquired in the respective degree programme.

Applications for examinations at other universities or in other study programmes at Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences must always be submitted together with the application for admission to studies. Applications for recognition can be submitted until 30 April for the summer semester and 31 October for the winter semester of the respective application semester. This does not affect the application deadlines for admission to studies.

If the recognition requested on the basis of an application is refused, the student/applicant can apply for a review of the decision by the Presidium.

On the basis of quality assurance and the successful accreditation procedure for its study programmes, the university ensures that the procedures and criteria used for the recognition of examination achievements and degrees are transparent, uniform and reliable.
