Information from the Examinations Office for new students

Here you can find information from the Examinations Office for new students.

Dear new students,

On behalf of the Examination Service, we would like to welcome you to Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg and provide you with some important information on examinations and related matters.

Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg is gradually switching over to the HISinOne campus management system, which we call ApolloApollo stands for Anwendungsportal Lernen – Lehren – Organisieren (German for ‘Application Portal Learn – Teach – Organise’).

The administration of several examination regulations has already been switched over to Apollo. You can find out whether your study programme is among them on the page Apollo - The campus management system of the H-BRS | H-BRS Informationsportal. The remaining examination regulations will follow in regular steps as the migration process continues.

If you are enrolled under examination regulations that have not been converted yet, please use the Student Information System (SIS): https://www.h-brs.de/de/sis.

Here, we would like to familiarise you with some of the key functions.

1. . Accessing transcripts

You can access or print your transcript via the internet. For Apollo, you will find instructions on how to do so at Grade overviews/ Certificates | H-BRS Informationsportal.

For the Student Information System (SIS), please visit https://www.h-brs.de/de/sis. You will be given a password for this purpose the first time you log into SIS.

In both systems, you can choose between a ‘simple’ transcript, with all of the study credits you have earned, or a ‘full’ transcript as required. The latter is needed for submission to other universities, for example.
The transcripts can also be accessed in English. Following exam registration, the transcript also shows any examinations you have registered for or cancelled.

You can obtain detailed information on the status of processed examination registrations via Apollo or SIS. Please contact the Examination Service immediately in the event of discrepancies (see the Examination Service web page for contact details: https://www.h-brs.de/de/d5/pruefungsservice).

3. Cancellation of examinations

You can cancel examinations via Apollo or SIS. Please note that, according to the examination regulations, it is only possible to cancel examinations online until a week before the date of the exam.

4. Examination results
You can access your examination results via Apollo under ‘My studies > My Achievements’. Both systems also allow you to access or print your transcript (see 1.). Note that the results should be available no later than six weeks after the date of the examination. Please understand that the Examination Service is unable to provide information about examination results by telephone (among other things, for data protection reasons).

5. Withdrawing from examinations in case of illness during the examination period

If you are unable to take an examination due to illness, you must submit a medical certificate verifying your inability to take the examination to the Examination Service. Please refer to the examination regulations, the Examination Service or your department for information on the specific form of the certificate.

Please note:

Be sure to include your name, study programme and student ID number with the medical certificate and let us know which examination you are withdrawing from. Also indicate the examination date. Please use the following forms for this purpose: https://www.h-brs.de/de/form.

6. General information

If you have any questions, please contact the relevant contact persons for your study programme. You can find the contact details on the Examination Service’s web page: https://www.h-brs.de/de/d5/pruefungsservice.

Documentation concerning examinations taken by you in future will be retained for five years. The documents will be disposed of in the sixth year in accordance with the provisions of data protection legislation. (For example: a written examination from summer semester 2024 will be disposed of in 2030.)

If you need a clearance certificate, you can obtain one from the Examination Service. In particular, we recommend having such a certificate issued if you are leaving university without graduating, because these certificates can only be applied for retrospectively for the following five years.

To make sure you receive all of the information that we email to your university mailbox, please check the size of your mailbox folder regularly.

When contacting the Examination Service in writing or by telephone, please always state your student ID number, name and study programme. This can reduce the time taken to process your query.

We wish you every success and hope you enjoy studying with us!

Kind regards,
The Examination Office
