FAQ Technology and Innovation Communications

FAQ Technology and Innovation Communications
What is Technology and Innovation Communication?

Inventions and development in certain fields of technology are becoming complicated and more complex. A lot of people only do understand innovations if they were explained. This is in particular the case, if those technologies come from leading-edge technologies like information technology or Nanotechnology. But also innovations from sciences like chemistry, biology or physics need to be prepared aswell. This is where this master programm is set: students get to know how technical innovations should be professionally communicated in the media or within a company.

Who is suitable for this master-programm?

The TIK-Master could be interesting for experts in the field of communication, who have a certain affinity towards technology and a special interest in technical topics.

Young Professionals, who are looking for an attractive basis of qualification for leading positions within the communications community, are in good hands.

Which subjects are offered?

The master degree "Technology and Innovation Communications" offers the chance to combine scientific work in the fields of communication, innovation and technology with two projects. For example about empirical research or a practical development of a medial concept.

Students learn strategies for integrating corporate and market communication and are capable already after the first semester to design cross-media communication campaigns themselves. Therefor they have to understand technical and scientific issues to appropriately evaluate the impact on society. The software-based business simulation game requires unit sales and cost-oriented actions and decisions; it teaches basic skills to corporate management. Competition law and property rights as well as media and telecommunications law make conditions for a communicative act. In a globalized world it is fundamental to discuss transnational media and economic relations and to strengthen intercultural language and behavioral skills.

Last but not least the students are devoted to an analytical or conceptual master's thesis, which can arise from research projects or development partnerships.

Which tests are due in the TIK - Master?

In each module a test has to be completed whether as a written report with discussion, oral or written exam:

Exams are individual tests over 90 to 120 minutes. Oral examinations last a minimum of 30 and maximum of 45 minutes, it may alternatively be carried out as a group examination. In written elaborations with discussion a presentation or a paper or another created "work" is scrutinized individually or in a group. This form of examination takes between 15 and 30 minutes per person.

The registration for the examinations is basically online. Registrations are limited to a fixed period. An application for enrollment is binding and can not be undone. In the case of not appearing for the module exam due to a disease a medical certificate has to be shown within three days, otherwise the test is failed.

Attempts at deception lead to the failure of the examination .

All exams are offered once a semester in the defined period.
