Following international applicants have equal legal status to German applicants:
  1. Non-EU/Non-EEA nationals who acquired their German secondary school-leaving certificate (German 'Abitur' or German 'Fachabitur') in the Federal Republic of Germany or at a German school abroad;
  2. EU/EEA nationals (European Economic Area (EEA): Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway);
  3. Non-EU/Non-EEA nationals, whose family members (spouse, parent) are EU/EEA nationals who are employed in Germany;
  4. Non-EU/Non-EEA nationals who have acquired the secondary school-leaving certificate of an EU/EEA state, e.g. French Baccalauréat.

Please note that an International Baccalaureate (IB Diploma) is no German secondary school-leaving certificate even if it was acquired in Germany.
