IAESTE

IAESTE (International Association for the Exchange of Students for Technical Experience) is an international, unpolitical, independent organisation which supplies students (mainly in the fields engenieering and natural sciences) with paid internships abroad in more than 80 membership states and provides support for international students during their stay at their host university.

IAESTE organisational structure

In every membership state there is a national committee (NC), which in Germany is represented by the DAAD (Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst). In addition, there are local committees (LC) in many cities, which are run by volunteering students.

When and where can I apply?

Preliminary applications can be handed in via the website of IAESTE LC Dresden until November 30th. If you are interested, you can ask for IAESTE internships at the International Office any time since there might be succession places or new places available.

How does the funding work?

The salary you receive during your internship is adapted to the general costs of living in your respective host country. The local IAESTE committee can help you with your search for accomodation. You have to pay travel expenses for destinations in Europe yourself, however it is possible to receive a subvention for travels to destinations outside of Europe.

Duration

Normally, the internships take between 2 and 5 months. IAESTE internships are possible during the semester breaks as voluntary internships as well.

Further advantages of an IAESTE internship

An internship abroad enhances your cooperation and communication skills as well as your language competences and enables you to get to know different cultures and systems.
