The Yarmouk University Remote Lab (YURL) project, led by Professor Rainer Herpers, brings Jordanian professors to our campus.

During the course of the week, a workshop will work out how students at the partner university in Irbid, Jordan, can remotely operate laboratory set-ups such as FPGAs. FPGAs are programmable integrated circuits that are used for real-time processing of algorithms. The topic of the workshop is both the technical implementation and the didactic integration of such remote labs. The experiences already made in the Department of Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Technical Journalism in the field of FPGA Vision Remote Lab and the innovative solutions developed for students in the course of the pandemic are central to the workshop and the project.

In addition to the 8 Jordanian researchers, three students from Yarmouk University will also participate in the workshop before taking courses at the Department of Computer Science in the winter semester of 2021/2022. The still young partnership between the two universities is thus already being filled with life beyond departmental boundaries.
