During the hottest week of the year, H-BRS welcomed colleagues from partner universities for an international staff week. Colleagues from our strategic partner universities, the University of Cape Coast and the German Jordanian University, along with colleagues from the Vietnamese German University and the University of Pristina, joined us for a week of exchange and learning from each other.

The week began with a warm welcome from Vice President for International Affairs and Digital Transformation Prof. Teena Hassan, followed by visits to the BRS Motorsports, video, and studio labs, as well as the robotics labs. Here, the guests were able to experience not only the technical facilities but also the hands-on, practice-oriented teaching at H-BRS.

Highlights included a crash course in German language and culture—presented by our colleagues from the Language Center, an intercultural workshop with the guests and the International Office and lunch with H-BRS administrative staff, which provided an opportunity for personal exchanges and to learn about how our university operates.

On Thursday, the group traveled to Rheinbach, where they presented their home universities to interested students and staff. There, they also met and shared their cultures and perspectives with students from the “Global Culture and Management” program led by Eileen Küpper.

Cultural highlights of the week included a visit to the House of German History, a reception at the Bonn historic Town Hall, and an air-conditioned boat ride on the Rhine. The week ended with a relaxing drink by the Rhine—a fitting conclusion to a week that was marked by interesting exchanges and valuable encounters.

The International Staff Week deepened our understanding of one another, developed new networks and connections and strengthened our partnerships. The guests were funded through our Erasmus+ International Credit Mobility projects (KA 171) which allows us to conduct visits for staff training.

We thank all participants for their openness, their commitment, and the enriching conversations. This week has shown how important international cooperation is for our university—and we look forward to further joint projects in the future.
