Rainer Herpers confirmed as Deputy Chairman of the VDI Cologne District Association for a second term of office
Bergisch Gladbach, 27 November 2024 - At the general meeting of the VDI Cologne District Association, Prof. Dr Rainer Herpers, Professor at H-BRS, was confirmed as Deputy Chairman for his second term of office. The Cologne District Association of the VDI (Association of German Engineers) elected a new Board of Directors and filled various new Board positions.

Violence does not come to my campus!
Violence against women is omnipresent and multifaceted. The Orange Days, which will be celebrated worldwide with numerous campaigns between November 25 and December 10, 2024, draw attention to this. The aim is to raise awareness and take decisive action against violence against women.

Digilience conference in Sofia with Professor Petra Haferkorn
From November 13–15, the Digilience Conference took place for the fifth time in Sofia, Bulgaria. For the first time, Petra Haferkorn (H-BRS), a professor of IT security management and a member of our Institute für Cyber Security & Privacy, participated and, together with her Ukrainian colleague Mariia Dorosh, professor of IT and software engineering department of Chernihiv National University of Technologies, presented new organizational approaches to shaping the information security of companies and public authorities.

On Friday, December 13, 2024, all employees of Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences will celebrate an internal Christmas party. The library on the Sankt Augustin campus will therefore close at 16:30.

Students and alumni visit European Union in Brussels
On 18 October 2024, first semester students of the MSc Social Protection visited the European Commission (EU) in Brussels, the capital of Belgium. Accompanied by departmental staff and participants from the Third International Alumni Seminar, they engaged in insightful discussions with key stakeholders from various European Union institutions, gaining valuable insights into the EU's role in the global landscape.

Vortrag über ethische Perspektiven und Gründe für geschlechtergerechte Sprache von Prof. Dr. Toni Loh
Am Donnerstag, den 07. November 2023, lud der Fachbereich „Sozialpolitik und soziale Sicherung“ zu seiner Ringvorlesung „Zwischenrufe zur Sozialpolitik“ auf dem Campus Sankt Augustin der Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg ein. Die seit 2018 bestehende Ringvorlesung steht in diesem Semester unter dem Titel „Diskriminierung im Blick – Verantwortung und Reflexion“. An diesem dritten Termin der Reihe referierte Prof. Dr. Toni Loh über den Themenbereich „Geschlechtergerechte Sprache“.
