Internal transformation processes, sustainability strategies or future technologies: In the fast-moving world of companies, stakeholders are confronted with constant change. What role does corporate communications play in this environment? Svenja Daniel, Director Strategy at the communications agency fischerAppelt, explored this question last Wednesday in the lecture series "Die Medienmacher:innen".

How do you communicate in a crisis? Why is sustainability becoming increasingly important in corporate communications? And what is the best way for an employer to reach young talent when there is talk of a shortage of skilled workers everywhere? "Companies cannot achieve their goals without communication," says Svenja Daniel. She and her team advise companies, develop communication strategies and provide support in crisis situations. For Svenja Daniel, dealing with the growing challenges in corporate communications is increasingly becoming a management task. Especially in times of crisis, it is important to take a strategic approach and determine in advance exactly who should be reached by which message and which factors are relevant. The media expert is convinced: "The better the communication, the less severe the impact of a crisis."

Svenja Daniel advises future communicators from the Technical Journalism and Visual Technical Communication degree programs to adopt a structured approach when dealing with communication tasks. Despite the growing challenges, she is certain: "Corporate communication has never been as exciting as it is today". In addition to a strategic mindset, the job requires a fundamental enjoyment of communication and creativity. Svenja Daniel's own path to the agency led her to journalism. After studying and completing her traineeship, she worked for WDR for more than five years - most recently as a press officer in the communications team of the ARD presidency.

In the lecture series "Die Medienmacher:innen", communication professionals report on their professional practice every Wednesday in the winter semester 2023/24 under the direction of Tanja Köhler, Professor of Digital Journalism and Audiovisual Media at H-BRS. The event is not only aimed at students, but at anyone interested in media professions and how they are changing as a result of digitalization.
