[Archive] Sponsorship for Shrijana Shresta from Nepal (2015)

Tuesday 8 September 2015

On the initiative of Professor Franz W. Peren from the Department of Management Sciences, H-BRS launched a fund-raising campaign for the earthquake victims in Nepal. The campaign has already borne fruit.

To date, 2,000 Euro have been raised through donations and the sale of refreshment tokens for the summer party. The money has already reached its destination through the ‘Kinderhilfe Nepal’ relief organisation. We received a letter of thanks from Kathmandu, sent by Olga Lasota from the Children’s Future Organization in Nepal. The donation “(…) helps to cover the cost of living and school education for Shrijana Shrestha for the next three years”, said Lasota.

Special thanks are due to all of Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University’s departments and the members of the International Institute for Asia Pacific Studies (IIAPS), which instigated and actively supported the donation campaign at the university’s summer party.

Donations requested

The donation campaign is being organised on an ongoing basis by a Nepalese-based social worker who is personally known to Professor Peren and works for ‘Kinderhilfe Nepal’. This ensures that 100% of the money reaches the places where it is most needed. As the university, for legal reasons, is not allowed to make any donations, the IIAPS is in charge of the campaign.

The aim continues to be a partial sponsorship (€ 50 per month) or a full sponsorship (€ 75 per month) of one or several children. The answers to the questions of how long payment lasts, which sponsorship is assumed and how many children can be supported will, of course, depend on the amount of money raised.
