Transfer at Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg

Transfer

Themenbild Transfer
We understand transfer as a proactive, two-way exchange of ideas, knowledge, technologies, services and people between the university and external partners from business, science, public authorities, politics, civil society and municipalities. In the spirit of the "Third Mission", we leverage the university's potential in research and teaching for business and society. The exchange should be a motor for innovation and growth. However, it is comprehensively guided by the leitmotif of social responsibility and sustainability.

The H-BRS Centre for Science and Technology Transfer (ZWT) is the central point of contact for science, business and society with regard to application-oriented research and cooperation. The ZWT advises researchers at the university and is also the first contact point for companies wishing to cooperate with the university. The Innovation Mall has its own homepage for networking.

Once a year, the ZWT also brings students and young professionals together with companies at the Sankt Augustin Campus with the Company Day, the largest careers fair in the region.

H-BRS has been intensifying its dialogue with society since 2018 with the "Campus to World" project, which is funded by the state-federal initiative "Innovative University". Workshops and panel discussions focus on scientific, technical and socially relevant issues.

One focus of the transfer is sustainability: sustainability-oriented research and sustainability-oriented transfer have been structurally anchored at H-BRS for years, particularly in the International Centre for Sustainable Development (IZNE) and the Institute for Technology, Resource and Energy Efficiency (TREE). The research projects focus, for example, on transport systems for green hydrogen, sustainable mobility and the reforestation of destroyed forest areas with the help of drones. The focus is not only on the practical benefits for the economy and society, but also on the acceptance of sustainability issues. Together with the Max Planck Institute for Chemistry (MPIC) in Mainz, the university is researching how knowledge transfer from research to society can be improved in the "Kluger Transfer" project using the example of global climate and environmental change.

Citizen science also offers opportunities for exchange: The "Campus to World" project has created five "CitizenLabs" at the university, which focus on very specific issues such as the sustainable design of home gardens.
