Elective Courses of the Language Centre

Students have the option to study additional languages alongside their required courses.

Registration for language courses

The registration period for Language Centre courses in the winter semester has ended – until 12:00 on 16 October 2026, students who have been affected by cancellations or who missed the registration deadline may apply for individual vacant places via the waiting list procedure in LEA. We will announce the start of the registration period for courses in the 2027 summer term in good time.

Classification of language courses

The courses are classified according to the different levels of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). Students who wish to attend a language course on A1 level (a course for beginners) are expected to have a reasonable command of the German language in order to be able to follow the course (for example instructions, grammar explanations et cetera).

Accreditation of Language Courses in the Degree Programmes

Whether you are taking a compulsory or elective language course, its accreditation is regulated in the examination regulations (Prüfungsordnung) of each degree programme.
If you have any questions about the procedure, please get in touch with the Examination board (Prüfungsausschuss) of your degree programme.

Intensive English courses

The intensive English course will refresh your knowledge of the English language, teaching not only grammar basics and vocabulary but also perfecting your skills in listening, reading, speaking and writing.

FAQ

The language courses are free for students who are enrolled at the Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg. Employees of the Hochschule may take a language course under certain conditions. Please refer to our FAQs for further information.
