Duration and timeframe of the practical semester

In the bachelor's degree programs of the Department of Management Sciences and Business Administration, a mandatory practical semester of at least 20 and a maximum of 27 weeks is integrated. The practical semester is generally conducted in a continuous timeframe with a company or other institution, typically in the sixth semester of studies, and should follow the regular weekly working hours of a full-time employee at the company.

Purpose of the practical semester

The purpose of the practical semester is to strengthen the connection between studies and professional practice. Students are expected to become familiar with the realities of the profession, apply the knowledge and skills acquired during their studies to concrete tasks, and describe and evaluate the experiences gained during their practical work. In addition to addressing business-related questions, they should also gain insight into the demands of the working world, including its social and environmental aspects. Where possible, they should contribute to solving business-related problems under their guidance.
