Successful student exchange in TOFI project
The international exchange with our university partners opens up valuable intercultural and academic experiences for students. These collaborations give them the opportunity to expand their expertise, gain new perspectives and establish valuable networks for their future. A total of six stays with our non-European project partners were funded through the TOFI scholarship.

After 26.5 years of dedicated teaching in the Department of Computer Science at H-BRS, Kerstin Uhde, Professor of High Performance Networks and Mobile Communications, will be taking her well-deserved retirement on 28 February 2025.

Fabian Sommer is new professor at the department IWK
From March 2025, Fabian Sommer will be teaching and researching as Professor of Sustainable Engineering at the Department of Engineering and Communication atHochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg since March 2025. The professorship focuses on energy efficiency and renewable energies.

On 1 March 2025, Dr Javad Ghofrani will take up his professorship in Autonomous Systems at the Department of Computer Science. His teaching and research areas include autonomous distributed systems, industrial automation and AI-supported robotics.

Award ceremony for doctoral scholarships 24/25
The Institute for Safety and Security Research (ISF) and the Graduate Institute of the Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences (H-BRS) have each awarded two doctoral scholarships to support the research work of academics at the H-BRS at the beginning of their careers. At a ceremony, President Marion Halfmann and Rainer Herpers, Director of the Graduate Institute (GI), together with representatives of the departments and the ISF, presented the scholarship holders with their funding approval certificates.

Engineers Without Borders Challenge: Students impress with concept for dry toilets in Sierra Leone
Students from the Department of Engineering and Communication (IWK) have achieved second place in this year's “Engineers without Borders Challenge” with their submission. 52 young engineering teams from eight universities across Germany took part in the challenge. This year's task was to design sanitary facilities for rural communities in Sierra Leone.
