Department of Computer Science
High level of satisfaction among computer science master's students
The participants gave excellent ratings, particularly in the areas of study organisation, support from lecturers, practical orientation and the transition from Bachelor to Master. A total of 52 students from the Computer Science, Visual Computing & Games Technology and Autonomous Systems degree programmes took part in the survey.
The CHE Centre for Higher Education Development regularly conducts student surveys at German universities and universities of applied sciences. The current CHE Master's ranking shows that almost 90 per cent of students in Computer Science rate their general study situation very positively (4 out of 5 possible stars).
According to the opinion researchers, the duration of studies in computer science is striking. At 53 per cent of universities, at least half of the students exceed the four-semester standard period of study and study for longer than six semesters, including at H-BRS. Sonja Berghoff, Head of National Rankings at the CHE, attributes this result primarily to the fact that computer science students are often already working in their industry alongside their studies.
All results are available at HeyStudium, DIE ZEIT's study guidance portal at https://studiengaenge.zeit.de/studiengang/w6018/informatik#reiter-ranki…. Around 7,500 students were surveyed for the ranking between January and August 2024.
